Important To Our Sling Users
You have purchased a product that is backed by years of experience in the synthetic web sling industry.
Like any other product that is used for lifing, tying down or towing, the operator or other person of responsibility should inspect for any wear, cuts, heat glaze, punctures or abrasion wear sections in the body of the sling. In the case of hardware, inspect for metal distortion or metal fatigue before operation or lift.
Do not be lulled into a sense of false security waiting for the red wear indicator threads to show. This indicates the need to replace the sling. However, in most cases, a dirty or greasy sling will not show this red wear indicator. There is no substitute for a pre-lift inspection.
Exercise extreme caution when lifing a highly abrasive load or one with sharp angles. YOU MUST USE dunnage or sliding sleeve pads when above conditions exist.
1. Crane Operator and Riggers
- Do not accelerate or decelerate the load too fast. e “G” force on a 1000 lb. load dropped 3 feet could surpass the ultimate working load of a sling.
- A load picked up too fast can work up a stretch/friction/surface heat that will surpass the melting temperature of nylon.
- Try not to drag a nylon sling over a rough or abrasive surface.
- Know the weight of the object being lifted and use appropriate capacity sling to do the job.

2. Superintendents and Purchasers
- Know what you are lifting, and if you can, extend the service life of a sling by adding a wear pad or lining the eyes or any other wear point with cordura. We can also use heavy-duty nylon depending on your needs. Please refer to the “Abrasion Pads and Sleeves” section of this website for more information.
- Insist on regular lift sling inspections.
- See that all slings are stored in a safe, dry place after use.
